E-LEARNING.=)
The experience that I cannot get in real life in second life is that, I can meet many new people and talk like as if we had known for years already when actually, we just met through virtual.I feel that I could just talk about anything and I can express myself better too.I have to agree that, we have to observe certain behaviour, ethics, or even manner in the way we bring the message across to our new friend. We have to be careful with our words so as not to offend them. If the first impression that they have on us is bad, they would not want to continue to make friends with us. Furthermore, it doesn't hurt much if we manage to observe certain behaviour.When I first step into HKPolyU Campus, I found myself like standing on the sea bed. I'm not so sure whether it is due to my internet connection that it could not load up properly or whether everyone do experience the same thing as me. However, after wondering around the "sea bed" alone finally I found a friend. But, he was my classmate Chester. haha. He said that he was not able to see the campus building as well. We were in the same boat. I made a new friend.=)After few minutes, appear one lady avatar name "Belinda Wescott". Finally a student from HK. Chester and I introduced ourselves and so did Belinda. We answered her questions first followed by ours.Belinda told us that she would buy accessories, clothes and shoes online. As for shoes, she would visit www.taobao.com. She also mentioned that pricing somehow would be an issue. However, she would be glad if she could get items that are affordable yet good quality. When asked about e-shopping websites, she said that yahoo is one of the frequent visited for e-shopping because the people in HK had yahoo as their home browser on the internet. Besides that, most HK's will sell off their items on yahoo. Second frequent site is e-bay. This two websites are also used to do price referencing. She would compare the prices of the products with other online websites or even retail stores. Through that way, she will know where to get the best deals. We planned to keep in touch via msn and facebook. We had already added each other.I have gained a lot of knowledge about other people preferences and also the school system in HK. Belinda was from the e-commerce course and one of her lecture actually starts at 630pm and ends at 930pm. I guess we should be fortunate that mostly our lessons ends at 7pm.=).Overall I enjoyed meeting Belinda through second life as she was very friendly. On the oher hand, I also get to know my classmates better.The challenging experience is that I was unable to find any avatar on HK campus at first. I was afraid that I would not be able to complete the assignment.And finally here are some of the screenshots of the avatar:
